My new artistic endeavor...

There is this woman on the scrapbook website that I frequent named Shannon Tidwell and I have to say that she is my scrapbook idol. I love all of the pages that she does and since she has a son that is the same age as Riley, I get a lot of inspiration from her. Here are some of the pages that she has done. Anyway, on her website she showed pictures of a project that she did for her home. She was inspired by this and I thought the project looked so fun. I have decied that I was going to try it myself. I love this paper as well and I thought it would be fun to have some personal and colorful artwork in our house. I will post pictures of it as soon as I finish with it.

My love of television....

I have always loved to watch TV, but for some reason in the last few years I have really started liking a lot of shows. I remember when I was younger watching shows like Hotel, Who's the Boss and Growing Pains with my Mom and then moving on to Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210 when I got older, but now that reality television is around I seem to love it even more. Here are my favorites:
Monday nights:
The Bachelor
I suppose this is just a guilty pleasure of mine. I like to watch girls fighting over boys and then eventually seeing them break up later.
The Real World/Road Rules Challenges
I have watched all of the seasons of The Real World and Road Rules so I love to see the drama between all of the characters.
Super Nanny
I love seeing how other children are so much worse than mine. I also have learned a lot about how to tame my little ones.
Tuesday nights:
The Amazing Race
I love to see all of the different places that they go to and the challenges that they do are so fun. I would never be able to be on that show, but it sure is fun to watch other people do it.
Wednesday nights:
Lost
I have never seen another show like this. It is one of the best shows on television right now. WOW! The twists and turns keep on coming and you never know what will happen next.
Thursday nights:
This is one of the best days of the week for TV. I have to watch one show at 8:00 and record 2 others.
The OC
Another great teen drama on TV. One of the few shows that Matt likes to watch with me. Although it is weird that I often relate to the parents now more than the kids.
Survivor
I can hardly believe that this is the 10th season already. I am still loving it as much as the first. It has great drama and action.
Jake in Progress
Finally a great half hour sitcom on network television. I wish more people would watch it because it truly is one of the funniest shows on TV right now. I loved Sex and the City and the is just as good.
CSI
This is another show that Matt watches with me. I don't care for the spinoffs, but I love this one. I have to admit that I love to see what is going on with the characters, but Matt like to see the other stories more. He doesn't really care about the characters, but he does like Grissom. It is easy to see why this is the number one show on television right now.
ER
One of the few shows that I have watched since the beginning. I truly love this show and almost always cry. It has made it through so many new characters and I still like it. I hope it stays around for a while longer.
Sunday nights:
The Contender
I can't believe that more people aren't watching this! This is another one of my very favorites. I have never really been into boxing before and you don't have to be to love this show. It truly makes you feel for the boxers. Mark Burnett the producer of this show is the greatest! The music is inspiring and the fights are so exciting! I love this show!
Desperate Housewives
Another show that Matt amazingly watches with me. It is so fun! I love the drama and the funny things that they do that remind me of myself.
Grey's Anatomy
What a great show! It is funny, dramatic, sexy and sad. I love it! I am so glad that it has replaced Boston Legal.
So that is it. Those are the shows that I watch every week. I love them all and have so much fun watching them while I do my laundry.

Monica has decided to try again

I am so excited because last night she told me that she would like to try playing soccer again. It doesn't start until September so she has a while to change her mind, but I think she is really excited about it. She played once already in 2003 and her coach wasn't very supportive so she didn't enjoy it as much as I think she should have. I am going to try and work with her on her skills this summer and hopefully get her into running a little better too. Running was the thing that she hated the most about soccer, but unfortunately that is one thing that you really have to be good at to be good at soccer. I am glad that she wants to get back into team sports again after taking a break and concentrating on nothing but swimming. I also can't wait to do more soccer scrapbook pages for her.

Riley is using the word again

Well, I guess we really have to start watching what we say in from of Riley now because today he said it again. I heard him close his bedroom door so I went in there to see what he was doing and he had my Crystal Light in a bottle and was pouring it onto his bed and window sill. It is basically like dark Kool-Aid so it is going to be very hard to get out. He knew that he was doing something that he shouldn't so he says to me, "Get out my room Momma, NOW!" So I told him not to talk to me that way and took the bottle away from him and he says, "Close the damn door Momma." In a way it was pretty funny, but I know that I couldn't laugh because he really shouldn't be saying it. Hopefully the naughty chair trick that I learned from Super Nanny will work. On the other hand, he has learned another new phrase that I love to hear him say. He says, "Momma, you my best friend." It warms my heart to hear that one.

Boy crazy Monica

Well, I think the boy crazy phase has finally started. Monica is only 9 years old, but her two best friends are boys. I never really noticed it until she had her 3rd grade music concert last Thursday night. She stood next to her friend Travis (who is a very cute little boy I might add) and she laughed and talked with him during the whole thing. It was so funny how much she reminded me of myself at that age. I remember being the girl who had a bunch of boys as friends and always laughing and talking with them when I was supposed to be paying attention to something else. I wasn't mad at her or anything, in fact I thought it was really cute. Even when he had his xylophone solo she was right next to him trying to help him. I posted some pictures of her with him above. It cracks me up every time I see them.

Discovery of the Krispy Kreme

Today Matt went to Issaquah to meet his Aunt at Home Depot to buy some things for her house. Well, Since I knew that there was a Krispy Kreme in Issaquah I decided to ask him if he would bring some home for me. Krispy Kreme is fairly new in the state of Washington and I think it has only been around for a little over a year or two. I have been able to resist my urges to try them because Matt had already tried them several times and told me that they aren't any different from any other doughnuts. Well, obviously he was just trying to save me. Despite being a big girl, I am not a huge fan of sweets. I normally would rather have a huge cheeseburger than cake or something sweet. Well, after trying these I have finally realized what the hype is all about. They were probably the second greatest thing that I have ever put in my mouth. Only second to baklava my very favorite sweet treat.
I now vow to:
  1. Not make excuses to go to Issaquah to get Krispy Kremes
  2. Never buy the probably older and staler versions of Krispy Kremes from QFC
  3. Only eat Krispy Kremes once a year (yeah right)
